You can travel the world in search of mixed-bag shooting for all-wild birds, but two of the best combinations of species and styles to be found anywhere are available just a few hours south of the Texas border.

Well-respected outfitter, Gerry Glasco, and his Crazy Feather Outfitters provide consistently excellent gunning for a multitude of ducks — pintails, redheads, widgeon, blue and green-winged teal and others, and afternoons of glorious bobwhite quail hunting over well-trained bird dogs.

Mexico duck hunting — a waterfowler's dream trip. “I had the best quail hunt AND the best duck hunt of my life—both in the same day with Crazy Feather Outfitters. I saw more ducks in a single morning hunt than in an entire season at home.”

The lodge is positioned in a strategic location near the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico surrounded by literally millions of acres of sorghum, corn and soybean cultivation, and bordered by thick brush and fence rows. This area is winter home to literally hundreds of thousands of Pacific flyway geese and ducks and is easily the world's finest bobwhite quail habitat.

Popular outfitter, Ralph Wilson, operates world-class dove hunting and bobwhite quail hunting over dogs based from his beautiful Aztec lodge. The lodge was constructed right in the middle of a huge dove roosting and feeding area, and the area’s grain fields, cattle ranches, fallow pasture and fence rows are home to literally the largest population of wild bobwhites in the world.

“Tamaulipas has the ‘mother lode’ of wild bobwhite quail hunting. Our last morning we had 40 quail in the bag before 9 a.m., then left to catch an early flight home.”
